Our client is a well-established engineering and building services contractor delivering complex projects across the UK.
Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an Assistant Quantity Surveyor or Intermediate Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a major, long-term infrastructure project in the Somerset region.
This opportunity is ideal for a recent Quantity Surveying graduate looking to launch their career or someone with up to five years' Quantity Surveying experience who is looking to take the next step.
You'll report directly to a Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager, receiving excellent support, mentoring and career development within an experienced commercial team.
Candidates with Mechanical & Electrical (MEP) experience will be particularly well suited to this role, although this is not essential for graduate applicants.
The Role
- Assist in the commercial management of Mechanical & Electrical (MEP) works.
- Support the preparation of applications for payment, valuations and final accounts.
- Assist with subcontract procurement and commercial administration.
- Monitor project costs and support accurate financial reporting.
- Manage variations and change control.
- Maintain commercial records and contract documentation.
- Liaise with project teams, subcontractors and client representatives.
- Learn and develop under the guidance of experienced commercial professionals.
About You
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Suitable for graduates through to candidates with approximately five years' Quantity Surveying experience.
- Previous MEP or building services experience is highly desirable for experienced applicants.
- Strong commercial awareness with excellent numerical and analytical skills.
- Good communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Proactive, organised and eager to develop your career.
- Competent in Microsoft Excel; experience with commercial management systems is advantageous.
