# Payroll Specialist£25,000 - £32,000 yearly* CV-Library* Bristol, UKPermanent Charity### Job DescriptionPayroll - sole charge!Part Time & Permanent£32,000 per annum full-time equivalentBristol Centre - Hybrid work patternI'm working with a well-established Bristol organisation to appoint an experienced Payroll Specialist to take ownership of its monthly payroll function.This is not a payroll administration role. It's an opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys managing the full payroll cycle, understands the numbers behind the process, and is comfortable working in a hands-on, relatively manual payroll environment.The role is offered on a 30-hour-per-week basis, ideally across four days, although candidates with additional finance experience, particularly Sage Accounts knowledge, may also be considered on a full-time basis.An early start would be a significant advantage to facilitate a thorough handover, but I would welcome your application if you do have a notice period.What you'll be doingManaging end-to-end monthly payroll for approximately 200+ employees across two payrollsProcessing starters, leavers, contractual changes and payroll amendmentsAdministering SSP, SMP, pensions and statutory paymentsProcessing overtime, travel expenses and additional paymentsCompleting RTI submissions and ensuring legislative compliancePerforming manual payroll calculations where requiredPreparing and posting payroll journalsCompleting payroll reconciliations and payroll-to-finance reconciliationsMaintaining staffing and cost allocation schedulesActing as the payroll subject-matter expert within the finance functionWhat we're looking forProven end-to-end payroll experienceHands-on Sage Payroll experience (strongly preferred)Thorough understanding of payroll legislation and processesRobust experience working within a manual payroll environmentConfidence with payroll journals, reconciliations and payroll accounting processesStrong Excel skillsAdditional skills that would be usefulSage Accounts experiencePurchase Ledger or Accounts Payable experiencePayroll finance reconciliation experienceJournal posting and cost recharge knowledgeThis is a fantastic opportunity for somebody who enjoys payroll for what it really is: understanding calculations, solving problems, maintaining accuracy and being trusted to own a critical business process.
