Brainkind is looking for an experienced Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team at West Heath House, our specialist neurological rehabilitation service in Birmingham. This is an exciting opportunity to take on a senior clinical role within the UK's leading neurological care charity, supporting adults with acquired brain injuries and complex neurological conditions to maximise independence and achieve meaningful rehabilitation outcomes.

About West Heath House: West Heath House is a specialist neurological rehabilitation service supporting adults living with the cognitive, physical, behavioural and emotional effects of severe brain injury. Rehabilitation is delivered using a neurobehavioural approach, supporting individuals to develop greater independence and participate in the everyday activities and roles that are important to them. Working alongside a specialist multidisciplinary team, you'll provide Occupational Therapy expertise as part of an integrated approach to complex neurological rehabilitation.

About the Role: As Senior Specialist Occupational Therapist, you'll manage a complex neurological caseload and provide specialist assessment, treatment planning and evidence-based interventions for adults with acquired brain injury and neurological conditions. You’ll take a leading role in Occupational Therapy provision within the service, working with a high level of clinical autonomy while collaborating closely with service users, families, carers and the wider multidisciplinary team.

  • Manage a specialist caseload of adults with acquired brain injury and complex neurological needs.
  • Deliver comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and evidence-based rehabilitation programmes.
  • Assess physical, cognitive, behavioural and emotional factors affecting occupational performance and independence.
  • Provide specialist interventions including cognitive, functional and upper-limb rehabilitation.
  • Develop personalised treatment plans supporting daily living, independence, leisure and community participation.
  • Develop rehabilitation programmes for Therapy Assistants and Rehabilitation Support Workers.
  • Provide specialist OT advice and contribute to multidisciplinary rehabilitation and discharge planning.
  • Monitor clinical outcomes, evaluate progress and contribute to the development of OT provision within the service.

About You: We're looking for an experienced Occupational Therapist with strong clinical skills and a passion for neurological rehabilitation. You’ll ideally have:

  • Diploma or Degree in Occupational Therapy and current HCPC registration.
  • Minimum 4 years' post-registration experience.
  • At least 2 years' experience working with neurological conditions.
  • Experience supporting people with acquired brain injury, neurological impairment or complex rehabilitation needs.
  • Specialist knowledge of neurological OT interventions, including cognitive and/or upper-limb rehabilitation.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and confidence managing a complex caseload autonomously.
  • Experience working effectively within a multidisciplinary or interdisciplinary team.
  • Valid UK driving licence and willingness to drive service users in service vehicles where required.
