Premier Work Support are currently looking for a permanent Group Transport Manager for our prestigious client in the Erith area. You will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Transport department and the supervision of all Transport staff, including Transport Supervisors and Transport Assistants.

Main duties include:

  • To ensure complete compliance with all Operator's licence legal obligations and undertakings.
  • To oversee the planning and co-ordination of maintenance on all company vehicles and ensure the company receives good service and value for money from the companies that maintain the vehicles, as outlined by the directors.
  • Drivers hours compliance with WTD and EU hours.
  • Driver PDP, CPC training to be scheduled in timely order to ensure staff are constantly suitably trained.
  • To ensure all safety equipment carried on company vehicles is kept in good working order.
  • To oversee and ensure transport personnel are provided with adequate and suitable PPE.
  • To oversee the booking of all driver ADR training and booking all driver inductions at the various terminals.
  • To oversee the daily routing of vehicles and cover for holidays and sickness.
  • To liaise with VOSA and the security services regarding vehicle security throughout all depots.
  • To allocate and manage staff resources according to changing needs.
  • To allocate and manage vehicles according to changing logistical needs by moving, purchasing or selling as needed within a framework given by the Directors.
  • To be involved in the buying of product as needed within a framework given by the Directors.
  • To attend Management meetings and give updates to other managers and carry out any actions agreed to at the meetings.
  • To resolve any driver issues brought to your attention.
  • To deal with disciplinary issues in conjunction with HR when required.
  • Produce monthly vehicle stats for the Directors.
  • Employing new drivers in conjunction with HR when instructed to do so by the Directors.
  • Ensure the general aims of the Company are complied with and that all procedures are adhered to.
  • All Company procedures, records and data remain confidential at all times.
  • To undertake any other duties which may be considered necessary by the Directors.
  • To promote the Company's image in a professional manner at all times.
  • Maintaining the Company's FORS accreditation.

Qualifications needed:

  • Current holder of CPC in National Road Haulage Operations.
  • Must have previous experience as a Transport Manager.
