Premier Work Support are currently assisting a freight provider with the recruitment of a permanent Transport Co-ordinator. As the Transport Co-ordinator you will co-ordinate and facilitate all road transport activities. You will be planning, coordinating and monitoring the movement of goods by road, assigning optimal routes to drivers and tracking deliveries against shipment timeframes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning and allocating vehicle resources to maximise coverage of all UK domestic cargo movements, from Sprinter vans to container haulage.
- Co‑ordinating in‑house vehicle loading and delivery schedules to ensure the most efficient turnaround and utilisation.
- Arranging bookings for vehicles to and from ports for import and export containers, securing optimal collection dates and times.
- Make and manage bookings with subcontracted hauliers, providing unique subject numbers and obtaining written confirmation of availability.
- Maintain up‑to‑date records of hauliers, rates, routings and transit times to support cost‑effective decision‑making.
- Prepare and review all export, import and cross‑trade documentation, including customs entries and clearance requirements.
- Liaison with customs brokers, freight forwarders, port authorities and other third parties to co‑ordinate smooth international and domestic clearances.
- Various other duties relating to working as part of a busy transport department.
