We are currently recruiting for a Permanent Assistant Quantity Surveyor for our client who are based in Chelmsford. As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will be working closely with a Quantity Surveyor to support with purchasing and administrative tasks, related to specific projects.
As the Assistant Quantity Surveyor you will be responsible for:
- Procurement of building materials (from schedules), bracketry & metalwork (from drawings) – tendering, following up to receive quotes on time, analysing quotes, discussing with the QS, tracking against budgets, negotiating with suppliers, drafting and placing purchase orders.
- Updating these packages on the procurement schedule (excel), and tracking and reminding for upcoming releases.
- Following up suppliers to ensure lead times are maintained and delivered on.
- Maintaining a materials management schedule (excel) to track materials from point of order through to confirmed arrival on site, including with locations, dates, orders, delivery notes, pallet/stillage refs, photos etc.
- Dealing with reactive procurement issues e.g. missing materials, & site requests in coordination with the team.
- Coordination with project team/s throughout above.
- Assisting QS with pricing of variations – obtaining quotes from supplier etc.
- Assisting QS with monthly application and vesting processes.
- On site installation records tracking & checking.
- Budgeting exercises in advance of release of final design, and monitoring budgets as we progress through on site, e.g. plant, building materials, forecasting costs to go.
