Our client has been established for more than 70 years and are internationally renowned leaders in the development and manufacture of precision stamping and pressing applications for an impressive range of clients throughout the world and are now seeking to recruit an experienced Toolmaker to complement their professional Manufacturing Division.
Reporting to the Toolroom Manager, based near Kingswinford and working in an ISO9001, ISO13485, ISO14001 and IATF16949 accredited environment, the successful Toolmaker candidate will work Mon - Thurs 13:30pm - 22:00 & Friday from 12:00pm - 18:00pm (38 hours per week) and be tasked with a range of duties that will include (but not be limited to):
- Supporting the development of new tools and modifying existing tooling by following engineering drawings to measure and mark out designs.
- Fit, trial, debug and modify new tooling and set and complete try outs in the presses.
- Monitoring the tools used on the manufacturing line to ensure efficient run rates and identify necessary repairs or improvements as appropriate.
- Maintain and strip, inspect, repair and rebuild tools for existing customers.
- Attending machine breakdowns to identify root cause and resolve the issue.
- Use hand tools (files, hacksaws and grinders) and machinery (lathes, presses, milling machines and grinders).
- Use 2D and 3D CAD and manufacturing software.
- Use precision measurement instruments such as Micrometers, gauges and Vernier Calipers to check tooling dimensions.
- Be responsible for routine maintenance for all press tooling (20 - 160-ton power press tools, both progression & second operations) and for both jig & gauge making.
To be considered for this varied and challenging Toolmaker position it is envisaged that the successful candidate will have completed a Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship and realistically be qualified to at least C&G/BTec/NVQ level in a relevant engineering discipline. Essentially you will have served in domestic or contract shops with experience of multi stage progression tools (essential) and demonstrate experience in all formats of machining (milling, turning, drilling & surface grinding) and of CNC and EDM machining with knowledge of Visi CAD software, along with experience of 5S and a good all round understanding about Health & Safety requirements.
