Our Tewkesbury based client has been established for almost half a century and specialise in the provision of precision engineered components and solutions for supply across a diverse range of industry sectors worldwide. They are now seeking to recruit an experienced Production Planner and Supply Chain Coordinator to complement their professional manufacturing, logistics and procurement teams, and both develop and maintain production schedules, optimise resource utilisation and ensure the smooth flow of materials to meet production and customer demands whilst keeping a critical focus on the customer base, ensuring an excellent standard of service is consistently provided and maintained through effective customer relationship management.
In a role split 80:20 biased towards planning activities in a busy CNC machine shop environment, responsibilities for this varied and challenging Production Planner and Supply Chain coordinator role will include:
- Capacity Planning: Analysing production capacity, identifying bottlenecks & deviations and developing solutions to optimise resource allocation and throughput.
- Production Scheduling: Creating, updating and reviewing master production schedules, ensuring alignment with demand, resource availability, and operational capacity.
- Inventory Management: Monitoring and optimising inventory levels and managing materials planning to minimise waste / ensure availability of components for production.
- Supplier Management: Coordinating with suppliers on material delivery schedules, applying strategic and tactical principles to procure materials cost effectively, addressing supply disruptions, and ensuring delivery of components to meet production needs.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Liaising fully with other functions across the business in the business planning process and its execution and delivery in order to address any issues affecting production.
- Process Improvement: Identifying and applying CI strategies to the receipt, movement and storage of materials that meet quality and production requirements and identifying opportunities to improve production planning processes, implement best practices, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Performance Monitoring: Tracking KPIs related to production planning, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing corrective actions.
- Customer Focus: Effectively managing and growing the customer base and acting as the voice of the customer aiming to exceed their expectations.
- Data Analysis: Utilising data analysis and reporting to support decision-making, forecasting material requirements and optimising production schedules.
Managing and maintaining Javelin software to ensure the planning function and business forecast is consistent, reliable and automated. It is envisaged that the successful Production Planner candidate will possess strong analytical and proactive problem-solving skills to identify areas of improvement and support change management initiatives, with the ability to analyse data, identify trends and develop data-driven solutions. You will have comprehensive experience of working with MRP/ERP systems (Javelin ERP system knowledge would be advantageous) in a previous Production Planner role along with detailed knowledge of both materials and the set up and workings of the planning process.
Additionally, you will have gained experience in an engineering production environment and demonstrate a good understanding of process flows of data and machining and of an end-to-end supply chain process with relevant engineering qualifications.
