As part of their ongoing programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Multi Skilled Shift Maintenance Engineer to complement their professional maintenance team in a flagship refrigerated distribution centre environment.
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will perform both Planned Preventative and reactive maintenance and breakdown repair activities in a -23 degree environment. The role involves working on various items of plant and equipment including conveyors, cranes, ASRS, and a range of MHE and special purpose machinery, including working at heights of up to 42m, ensuring optimal warehouse performance is achieved at all times.
Core duties will include (but not be limited to):
- Ensuring all equipment is used and maintained in line with supplier guidelines, including conveyors, cranes, cooling systems, and oxygen reduction systems.
- Ensuring PPM and repairs are carried out in a timely and safe manner, ensuring minimal disruption to the operation.
- Achieving agreed KPI’s within budget.
- Arranging visits and services as required in line with business needs and supplier guidelines to maintain applicable warranties.
- Supporting the operators to ensure the smooth flow of logistics operations in the warehouse.
- Monitoring, controlling, and ordering spare parts and inventory in line with company policy and budgetary limitations.
- Accurately completing agreed internal reporting and communication as required by the Engineering Manager.
- Monitoring energy use and identifying and implementing reduced energy consumption techniques.
To be considered for this varied and challenging role within a market-leading respected blue-chip organisation, it is envisaged that the successful candidate will be qualified to at least HND level or above in a relevant electrical or mechanical engineering discipline and demonstrate at least 5 years’ experience gained within a similar FMCG automated warehousing and distribution centre environment. You MUST be able to work safely at height, with cold store and ammonia plant experience proving distinctly advantageous.
The shift pattern is a 4 on 4 off 12-hour shift pattern (6am to 6pm / 6pm to 6am rotating). You will also demonstrate flexibility on hours worked to cater for the operation as required and will be comfortable working both autonomously and as part of a team. In return, a competitive remuneration and benefits package are available.
