Our client demonstrates almost 40 years' experience in the manufacture of bespoke automation and robotic systems for a range of industrial applications and are regarded as one of the leading automation system solution providers in the UK. As a result of continued success and a planned programme of strategic growth, they are now seeking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Control Software Engineer to complement their established professional team and deliver machine control system solutions allied to a range of automated machinery-based projects.
Tasked with writing and developing software, PLC & HMI coding for various automation projects, as a Control Software Engineer you will also be responsible for the electrical design and creation of machine control system solutions for special purpose automated machinery projects. Other duties will include delivering control and safety systems that comply with the requirements of the machinery directive and appropriate applicable standards, and electrical system design, selection of components and generating detailed circuit diagrams as required.
Based near Leicester, you will also be responsible for the integration of various robots, including SCARA, Delta & 6-axis and will liaise extensively with customers, suppliers and team members, so effective communication skills at all levels are essential for the position, and you will be comfortable in working both autonomously and as part of a team dedicated to delivering projects within budgetary and timescale constraints.
Additionally, you will follow projects through from design, development and commissioning stages on machine control and safety systems and will be responsible for the creation of associated electrical documentation including circuit diagrams, cable schedules, installation documents, BOM's and bills of materials. You will also ensure that machine electrical systems and safety systems comply with all relevant European and international safety standards and for the correct selection and procurement of all necessary components.
To be considered for this varied and challenging Control Software Engineer role it is envisaged that the successful candidate will demonstrate at least 5 years' experience of software design and PLC coding with particular experience of working with Omron, Siemens and Allen Bradley equipment proving distinctly advantageous. You will essentially possess comprehensive skills and experience of electrical design for machine automation using ePlan, along with knowledge and understanding of the various national and international electrical standards for machine design and machine safety systems and requirements to CE mark machine systems.
Realistically you will be qualified to degree level or equivalent in electrical / electronic engineering or a closely related control system discipline with a flexible approach to travel to customer sites across the UK if required.
