A SEMH Teaching Assistant is required for an Alternative Provision school within the Sunderland area. In this role you will be working one to one with a pupil who has an EHCP. You will join a welcoming team and the role will start asap and will be full time and ongoing long term.
The ideal candidate will have a real wish to work with underprivileged pupils who have social, emotional and mental health issues.
You must hold a Teaching Assistant or Youth Work qualification and have a background working with SEMH or a willingness to work in SEMH schools. Experience of counselling or mentoring is a benefit but is not essential.
The school is dedicated to excellence in teaching, learning and relationships and demands high standards of behaviour, inclusion and engagement, as well as personal and collective responsibility. Class sizes are small to encourage close relationships and a personal learning approach. The school is mixed sex and has supportive and friendly staff and managers.
