The Role
We’re looking for a highly capable and detail-driven qualified accountant to take ownership of our day-to-day financial operations and help us maintain strong financial control as we expand our global footprint. This role is ideal for someone who is technically strong, enjoys rolling up their sleeves, and is looking to contribute meaningfully to a high-growth company - with a passion for core accounting. You’ll play a central role in ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and compliance of our financial systems, while working closely with stakeholders across the business. Reporting to the CFO, this role is based at our London HQ.
Responsibilities
- Ownership of Core Accounting Processes
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date general ledger records, ensuring all transactions are correctly classified and supported
- Manage and reconcile accounts payable and receivable ledgers, ensuring proper cut-off and documentation
- Maintain accounting integrity through journal entries, accruals, and prepayments
- Support month-end and year-end closing activities, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and timelines
- Reporting & Audit Readiness
- Prepare statutory financial statements in line with UK GAAP / IFRS
- Manage and maintain audit-ready documentation for all financial processes
- Support technical accounting assessments for new transactions or revenue models
- Regulatory & Tax Compliance
- Prepare and submit VAT returns and maintain audit-ready tax records
- Ensure ongoing compliance with UK financial regulations and internal policies
- Maintain accurate records for employee expenses, benefits reporting (P11D), and international tax considerations as we expand
- Support the implementation of robust internal financial controls and compliance processes
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with the Finance Manager and CFO to ensure alignment between management reporting and statutory accounts
- Provide data and technical accounting insight to support forecasting, investor reporting, and due diligence activities
- Support global expansion efforts by helping implement multi-entity accounting, foreign currency, and intercompany reconciliations
Who we’re looking for / Profile
- Qualified Accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA) with 3-5 years of experience in accounting or audit
- Strong technical understanding with prior experience in a startup or scale-up environment or audit experience with high-growth clients
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets skills and proficiency in accounting software (Xero, NetSuite, or similar)
- High attention to detail, analytical mindset, and process discipline
- Comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-paced, evolving business
- A proactive problem-solver who takes pride in delivering accurate, high-quality work
- A long-term mindset - someone who takes pride in building robust, reliable accounting functions
- Multilingual or international accounting experience is a plus, with accounting experience with EU country companies (e.g., Germany, Austria, Netherlands, France) considered a significant bonus
