Our client is seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee and coordinate all design and technical information for a major public realm project. The role sits at the heart of the project, bridging design, commercial, and site teams to ensure drawings, specifications, supplier designs, and subcontractor information are complete, accurate, and buildable.
The Design Manager will manage the full lifecycle of design information, maintain version control, and ensure all outputs meet client requirements. They will liaise with consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and the client team to deliver high-quality, coordinated designs on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and integrate design information from consultants, suppliers, subcontractors, and client teams
- Review drawings, specifications, and bespoke items for accuracy, compliance, and buildability
- Maintain version control and issue approved information for construction
- Lead design coordination meetings and track actions, decisions, and deadlines
- Support site teams with technical queries, mock-ups, and buildability reviews
- Ensure design outputs align with the project programme and procurement schedules
Skills & Experience
- Experience as a Design Manager, Design Coordinator, or Project Engineer
- Strong technical knowledge and ability to interpret drawings and specifications
- Experience coordinating multidisciplinary and supplier/subcontractor designs
- Understanding of design approval processes, change control, and buildability
Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Structural Engineering, or similar
- Experience in contractor or consultancy environments
- Professional memberships (ICE, CIAT, LI, CIOB, RIBA) desirable
