Location: Dartford. Pay Rate: £15.74 per hour plus overtime. Shift Pattern: Monday - Friday, 9:00 PM - 6:00 AM (flexibility may be required during peak-seasons).
Premier Recruitment Group are delighted to be working in partnership with a rapidly growing fresh produce company. We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Quality Assurance Officer to join their night shift team, overseeing production and packaging operations.
This role plays a key part in ensuring compliance with customer specifications, food safety regulations, and company quality standards — with a particular focus on flow wrap packaging and fresh produce intake (Fresh Fruit).
Key Responsibilities- Conduct quality checks on incoming fresh produce, assessing ripeness, weight, defects, and compliance with retailer/customer standards.
- Perform in-process QA checks during flow wrap packaging, monitoring seal integrity, alignment, labelling, and weight accuracy.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, BRC, and company SOPs.
- Carry out line clearance and maintain full documentation before start-up, changeovers, and shutdowns.
- Identify and escalate non-conformities, support root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective & preventive actions (CAPA).
- Verify packaging materials (films, labels, trays, cartons) prior to and during production.
- Collaborate with production and technical teams to resolve issues and improve quality standards.
- Maintain accurate batch records, intake reports, and QA logs.
- Train and guide line operators and intake staff on quality, hygiene, and defect detection.
- Degree/diploma in Food Technology, Agriculture, Quality Management (desirable).
- 2-3 years' experience in QA within fresh produce/FMCG/food manufacturing.
- Practical experience with flow wrap machines and fresh produce packaging lines.
- Strong knowledge of fresh fruit quality (particularly mangoes and avocados).
- Understanding of retailer specifications and food safety standards (GMP, HACCP, BRC, ISO 22000).
- Excellent communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
- Ongoing position with the potential for a permanent contract.
