Transport Operator Required in Purfleet, Essex

Full-Time | Monday to Friday | 08:00 - 17:00

Salary: £28,000 - £30,000 Per Annum

Premier Recruit are currently recruiting for an experienced and motivated Transport Operator to join a busy and growing transport operation. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous transport, logistics, or driver coordination experience who enjoys problem-solving, working in a fast-paced environment, and supporting drivers to ensure smooth daily operations.

The Role

You will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day running of a small team of drivers, ensuring operational issues are dealt with efficiently while maintaining excellent communication across the transport function.

Duties Will Include:

  • Managing and supporting a small team of drivers
  • Assisting drivers with operational issues and delays
  • Problem solving and reacting quickly to changing situations
  • Monitoring deliveries and vehicle movements
  • Communicating with drivers, customers, and internal departments
  • Supporting daily transport planning operations
  • Ensuring transport compliance and company procedures are followed
  • Handling driver queries and providing operational support
  • Maintaining accurate transport records and updates

Requirements

  • Previous experience within transport, logistics, or fleet operations preferred but not essential
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and prioritise workloads
  • Good problem-solving ability
  • Computer literate with good administration skills
  • Experience dealing with drivers or transport teams advantageous
  • Reliable, proactive, and team-oriented approach
