Job Overview
We are currently seeking an experienced Transport Planner to join a busy and fast-paced logistics operation. Working as part of a transport planning team, you will be responsible for coordinating the daily planning of 700-800 palletised deliveries, ensuring efficient routing, vehicle utilisation, and on-time delivery across the UK. This role requires strong organisational and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work under pressure in a high-volume transport environment. You will work closely with drivers, warehouse teams, and operational staff to ensure the smooth running of daily transport activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Planning and coordinating 700-800 pallet deliveries per day as part of a transport planning team
- Creating efficient delivery routes to maximise vehicle utilisation and minimise costs
- Planning loads across a fleet including 7.5T and LGV Class 2 vehicles
- Understanding and applying weight limits, cube utilisation, and loading metres when planning vehicle loads
- Planning both Euro and standard pallet loads effectively
- Monitoring deliveries and resolving operational issues as they arise
- Communicating with drivers and warehouse teams to ensure smooth transport operations
- Problem-solving and adjusting plans in response to delays, breakdowns, or operational challenges
- Ensuring compliance with transport legislation and operational procedures
- Assisting with planning domestic deliveries linked to import and export freight operations
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Transport Planner or in a transport operations role
- Experience with palletised distribution and load planning
- Good understanding of cube utilisation, loading metres, and vehicle weight limits
- Experience planning loads for 7.5T and LGV Class 2 vehicles
- Strong route planning and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Knowledge of ADR / hazardous goods regulations would be beneficial but not essential
Benefits
