Premier Recruit is recruiting on behalf of our client, the UKs premier provider of utilities and infrastructure solutions, for an experienced Operations Manager to join their wastewater network operations in South London. This opportunity would suit candidates with experience working within any utility sector or network operations environment (including water, wastewater, drainage, power, gas, telecoms or other regulated infrastructure services). This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving operational performance, safety, compliance and customer outcomes across a regional wastewater network operation.

Location: Crossness Sewage Treatment Works, South London (Abbey Wood / Thamesmead, SE2)

Job Type: Permanent, Full Time

Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week (plus participation in an on-call rota)

Salary: OTE Β£43,900 - Β£48,300 (dependent on experience)

About the role

As Operations Manager, you will be a core member of the regional management team, responsible for leading operational delivery across both field and office-based teams. You will oversee people performance, operational efficiency, supply chain management and service delivery, ensuring contractual KPIs and customer service standards are consistently achieved. This is a hybrid field and office-based position, covering the South London region.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing and developing Field Managers, Technical Specialists and Field Support Administrators
  • Driving operational performance, productivity and quality across the region
  • Providing on-site and remote leadership, coaching and performance feedback
  • Implementing continuous improvement initiatives across processes and field activity
  • Working closely with the command/control centre, client representatives and supply chain partners
  • Planning and managing regional resource and vehicle requirements
  • Managing complaints and ensuring timely and effective resolution
  • Ensuring full Health & Safety compliance through regular audits and site visits
  • Supporting regional planning, work composition and operational availability
  • Delivering projects and ad-hoc initiatives as required by senior leadership

Required experience

  • Proven management experience within utilities, infrastructure or network operations
  • Experience leading operational or field-based teams
  • Strong leadership and people management capability
  • Excellent stakeholder and client relationship skills
  • Strong organisational and performance management skills
  • Confident user of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)
