On behalf of a very well-established client, supplying specialist products to high end customers, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Principal Production Engineer to play a leading role in delivering high-quality electronic and electromechanical manufacturing solutions. This is an exciting opportunity for a technically accomplished engineer who enjoys solving complex manufacturing challenges, working directly with customers, and leading the introduction of new products into production. You'll be a key technical authority within the business, helping drive continuous improvement, manufacturing excellence, and customer satisfaction.
As our Principal Production Engineer, you will:
- Act as the primary technical point of contact for customers, providing expert engineering support.
- Lead manufacturing engineering activities across production programmes.
- Support the introduction of new products, ensuring smooth transition from design to manufacture.
- Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency and productivity across manufacturing processes.
- Support customer audits, technical reviews and programme meetings.
- Investigate and resolve technical issues affecting production.
We’re looking for someone who combines strong technical expertise with excellent communication and leadership skills.
Essential
- Degree in Electronics Engineering, HNC (or equivalent experience).
- Extensive experience within electronics or electromechanical manufacturing.
- Strong understanding of Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Test (DFT).
- Experience supporting new product introduction (NPI).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong customer-facing and stakeholder management experience.
- Ability to produce clear technical documentation and reports.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead technical activities.
Desirable
- Experience working with RF systems, subsystems and associated test equipment.
- Knowledge of manufacturing test systems and production equipment.
- Experience within bespoke or low-to-medium volume manufacturing environments.
