Our client provides comprehensive electronic manufacturing services, from design and prototyping through to PCB assembly and full box builds, serving customers across the UK and internationally.

The Role

This opportunity calls for an experienced Quality Engineer to provide an effective and robust quality function across their St Neots site.

You will play a key role in driving continuous improvement in quality standards and supporting the ongoing development and maintenance of our ISO systems.

Working closely with engineering, production, customers and suppliers, you will provide technical quality assurance and control, investigate quality issues and ensure effective containment and long-term corrective actions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact for the shop floor on product quality issues,
  • Investigate quality issues and ensure rapid containment, corrective action and long-term resolution.
  • Develop, implement and maintain technical quality assurance and control systems.
  • Define and support standards, methods and procedures for inspection, testing and product evaluation.
  • Proactively analyse production data and develop and report key quality metrics.
  • Identify opportunities for continual improvement and recommend corrective actions.
  • Provide technical quality support to engineering and production teams to ensure products are manufactured to the required standards.
  • Support engineering design reviews, ensuring appropriate quality requirements and considerations are addressed.
  • Complete First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) to customer requirements.
  • Manage customer, supplier and internal quality concerns using 8D corrective action reports.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure purchased goods meet the required quality standards.
  • Carry out internal and external audits.
  • Compile regular quality reports for the Quality Manager and relevant stakeholders.
  • Communicate and coordinate quality information with internal and external customers to ensure compliance.

You will ideally have

  • HNC or equivalent qualification, with substantial experience in a similar role, preferably within an electronics manufacturing organisation.
  • A good understanding of process design and development, including PFMEA, Control Plans and PPAP.
  • Strong IT skills.
  • Experience in the Aerospace, Medical or Automotive industries is desirable.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work effectively across engineering, production, customers and suppliers.
