We are seeking a detail-oriented and organised Purchasing Specialist to manage and oversee the procurement process for industrial pipes, fittings, and related materials. The ideal candidate will have experience in sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing materials from suppliers while ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery to support our business operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement Management: Source and purchase industrial pipe, fittings, and other related materials from approved suppliers. Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock without overstocking or understocking. Develop and maintain relationships with vendors, manufacturers, and suppliers.
- Supplier Evaluation and Negotiation: Evaluate and select suppliers based on price, quality, delivery time, and service. Negotiate pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve cost-effective purchasing solutions. Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues related to delivery, quality, or other discrepancies.
- Inventory and Stock Management: Monitor inventory levels and track material usage to predict future needs and avoid delays. Coordinate with warehouse teams to ensure timely delivery and receipt of materials. Maintain accurate records of purchases, suppliers, contracts, and inventory status.
- Order Management: Generate purchase orders (POs), track order status, and follow up with suppliers for timely delivery. Ensure all orders meet the required specifications and comply with relevant standards.
- Reporting and Analysis: Prepare and maintain reports on purchasing activities, inventory levels, and supplier performance. Analyse market trends and forecast future needs to ensure the smooth operation of procurement processes.
- Compliance and Documentation: Ensure compliance with all internal procurement policies, legal requirements, and safety standards. Maintain accurate records and documentation for auditing and reporting purposes.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with internal departments such as sales and logistics to ensure alignment on procurement needs. Assist in troubleshooting any issues that arise during the procurement process.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management, specifically within the industrial pipe and fittings industry (preferred).
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of procurement systems and software (e.g., ERP systems).
- Familiarity with materials, specifications, and standards related to pipes and fittings.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
Working Conditions:
This position may require some travel to supplier locations or job sites. Occasional lifting and handling of materials may be required.
