Site & Transport Operations Manager
Location: Irlam
Salary: £50,000 – £60,000 DOE
Duration: Initial 6-month fixed-term contract, with the possibility of becoming permanent.
We are seeking a Transport & Site Operations Distribution Centre Manager to oversee and manage the day-to-day logistics activities at our client\’s Irlam site, with overall responsibility for both transport, warehouse and overall site performance. general site operations, including warehousing. Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily transport, warehouse and operations, ensuring compliance with legal obligations, standards and health & safety regulations
- Provide clear leadership across site teams, including drivers, transport office, warehousing and site functions
- Manage customer relationships and maintain a high standard of service delivery and communication
- Drive P&L performance and resource planning aligned to operational and financial requirements
- Lead and develop a high-performing team culture, including performance management and people development
- Ensure full compliance with DVSA/O-licence obligations, tachograph legislation, and Working Time Directive
- Support continuous improvement initiatives across site operations, applying lean principles and performance KPIs
- Work closely with subcontractors and internal teams to ensure smooth, efficient, and cost-effective operations
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align local execution with broader strategic goals
Required Qualifications And Skills
- Minimum 2 years\’ experience in Transport Operations at Shift Manager or Site Leadership level
- CPC Qualification
- Extensive knowledge of the Transport & Logistics Industry
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Knowledge of DVSA regulations, Tachograph Legislation, and Working Time Directive
- Experience managing KPIs, budgets and performance reporting
- Strong people management, communication and time management skills
- Able to work confidently in a dynamic, fast-paced logistics environment
- Analytical mindset with the ability to drive decisions through insight
