We are currently partnering with a well-established and growing electronics manufacturing organisation who are looking for x2 Test Development Engineers to join their expanding team. The business operates within a highly technical, production-led environment, delivering complex electronic products and systems into demanding applications. With continued investment in both manufacturing capability and new product introduction, they are now looking to strengthen their test engineering function.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with either a strong background in electronic test engineering and test equipment, or for someone just starting off in their career and looking to build a career in Engineering.
In this role, you will provide hands-on support to production test operations, including fault finding, diagnosis, and repair of test equipment and fixtures. You will also be involved in the design and development of new test solutions, including manual, semi-automated, and automated test systems, working closely with senior engineering stakeholders. Alongside this, you will contribute to continuous improvement activities, helping to enhance test efficiency, reduce costs, and improve overall manufacturing test capability. The role is based on the Isle of Wight and is an office-based position.
Key Responsibilities- Provide first-line technical support for production test issues, including diagnosis and repair of test equipment and fixtures.
- Design and develop test equipment, including development jigs, qualification fixtures, manual and automated test systems.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) activities from a test engineering perspective.
- Maintain and improve technical documentation relating to test systems and processes.
- Support and maintain existing test hardware and software platforms.
- Identify and implement improvements to test processes, equipment efficiency, and cost reduction opportunities.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Operations, and Quality teams to ensure robust and reliable test coverage.
- Ideally have a qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (A Level, BTEC, HNC, HND or equivalent).
- Strong understanding of electronic test equipment and its application in a manufacturing environment (manual and ATE).
- Good understanding of test engineering principles and manufacturing test processes.
- Knowledge of in-circuit testing (ICT) principles.
- Experience testing switched mode power supplies (SMPS) or similar electronic circuitry.
- Strong analytical and fault-finding skills within an electronics environment.
Salary: Mid-Level: £45,000-£55,000 Graduate/Junior Level: £30,000-£40,000
