Overview
We are recruiting on behalf of a growing engineering and manufacturing business for a Junior Design Engineer to join their team. The role involves supporting the design and development of heavy-duty equipment and machinery attachments, producing 3D models and engineering drawings, and working closely with production teams. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on design experience and develop your engineering career within a supportive environment.
Responsibilities
- Producing and updating 3D CAD models and detailed manufacturing drawings
- Assisting with the development of new engineered products and equipment solutions
- Tailoring existing designs to suit specific customer and project requirements
- Preparing technical information, parts lists, and design documentation
- Collaborating with manufacturing and commercial teams throughout the project lifecycle
- Supporting product enhancement initiatives and engineering change requests
- Reviewing designs to ensure they are practical, cost-effective, and suitable for production
Qualifications
- A degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in an engineering-related discipline
- Experience using 3D CAD software, ideally SolidWorks
- Good problem-solving and analytical skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and work as part of a team
- A willingness to learn and develop within a manufacturing environment
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office applications
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Exposure to the design of fabricated steel products or structural components
- Knowledge of heavy equipment, machinery attachments, or related industrial sectors
- An understanding of common manufacturing techniques, including fabrication, welding, machining, and metal forming
