Overview
My client is looking for a Product Design Engineer to join their team within a manufacturing and product development environment. The successful candidate will be involved in the design and development of new and existing products, taking ideas from concept through to production.
The role will include:
- Producing and developing product designs for manufacturing and commercial applications
- Creating and maintaining 3D CAD models, drawings, and product documentation
- Preparing technical specifications and supporting design justification where required
- Ensuring designs are suitable for manufacture, assembly, and cost-effective production
- Reviewing and refining designs through concept, prototype, and production stages
- Coordinating with manufacturing, engineering, and supply chain teams to ensure design intent is met
- Supporting product development through to testing, validation, and production release
The Product Design Engineer will need to have the following attributes:
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Product Design, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
- Proficient in SolidWorks with the ability to produce detailed 3D CAD models and engineering drawings
- Experience in product design and development within a manufacturing environment
- Strong understanding of design for manufacture (DFM) principles
- Ability to interpret technical specifications and translate concepts into practical design solutions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, fabrication, injection moulding or assembly would be advantageous
