Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Care Home Manager, ideally an NMC Registered Nurse, to lead the daily operations of a high-quality nursing home. The successful candidate will ensure the delivery of outstanding, person-centred care while maintaining full compliance with regulatory standards and driving commercial performance. This role requires strong leadership, regulatory expertise, and business acumen, with a proven track record of managing a successful residential service, ideally with a care home/nursing home setting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management
    • Provide strong, visible leadership to the care team.
    • Oversee all aspects of the home's operations, including staffing, budgets, compliance, and quality assurance.
    • Promote a positive culture focused on dignity, respect, and excellence in care.
    • Support staff development, supervision, and performance management.
  • Regulatory Compliance
    • Maintain full compliance with CQC standards and relevant legislation.
    • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of regulatory frameworks.
    • Work proactively towards achieving and maintaining a 'Good' or 'Outstanding' CQC rating.
    • Ensure all policies, procedures, and documentation meet regulatory requirements.
  • Clinical Governance (if NMC Registered)
    • Provide clinical oversight and ensure safe nursing practice.
    • Monitor care planning, risk assessments, medication management, and safeguarding processes.
    • Promote best practice in infection control and clinical standards.
  • Business & Commercial Management
    • Manage budgets effectively to ensure financial sustainability and profitability.
    • Develop and implement strategies to maintain high occupancy levels.
    • Demonstrate marketing skills within the private care sector.
    • Contribute to business growth and service development.
  • Stakeholder Engagement
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with residents and families, external healthcare professionals, local authorities, and regulators.
    • Ensure clear, compassionate, and professional communication at all times.

Essential Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (NMC) preferred.
  • Proven experience managing a nursing or residential care home either as a deputy or the registered manager.
  • Strong knowledge of CQC regulations and compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrable experience achieving high-quality inspection outcomes.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong business and marketing acumen in the private care sector.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional standards of care.

Desirable

  • Experience working towards or achieving CQC Good or Outstanding.
