Job Description
JOB – Sheet Metal Designer
LOCATION – St Albans
TERM – Permanent
SALARY – £35,000 to £50,000 per annum (plus benefits)
My client is a specialist manufacturer working on bespoke fabricated products and assemblies. They are looking to take on a Sheet Metal Designer to join their team in St Albans.
The Sheet Metal Designer will ideally have the following attributes:
• Experience in sheet metal design within a manufacturing or engineering environment
• Proficiency with SolidWorks (3D modelling and 2D drawings)
• Strong knowledge of fabrication techniques, welding, and assembly processes
• Ability to produce accurate drawings and BOMs for manufacture
• Understanding of materials and their applications in sheet metal work
• Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
• Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team
• Relevant engineering/design qualification (HNC, HND, BEng, or similar)
The Sheet Metal Designer role will involve:
• Designing and developing bespoke sheet metal components and assemblies
• Producing 3D CAD models and 2D technical drawings using SolidWorks
• Creating accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs)
• Liaising with production and fabrication teams to ensure designs are manufacturable
• Working closely with project engineers on client requirements and specifications
• Supporting design modifications and continuous improvement initiatives
• Ensuring all designs meet company and industry standards
