JOB – Overhead Line Designer

LOCATION – UK Wide

TERM – Permanent

SALARY – Β£60,000 to Β£80,000 per annum (plus benefits)

My client is a leading engineering consultancy working on major energy and utilities infrastructure projects. They are looking to take on an experienced Overhead Line Designer to join their growing team, with flexibility to be based across the UK.

The Overhead Line Designer will ideally have the following attributes:

β€’ Strong background in Overhead Line (OHL) design within the power/energy sector

β€’ Proficiency in PLS-CADD, Tower, Pole, or similar design software

β€’ Knowledge of UK design standards, National Grid specifications, and relevant regulations

β€’ Experience working on transmission and distribution projects (132kV, 275kV, 400kV)

β€’ Ability to produce calculations, drawings, and detailed technical documentation

β€’ Good project coordination and communication skills

β€’ Relevant engineering qualifications (HND, BEng, MEng, or equivalent in Electrical/Civil Engineering)

The Overhead Line Designer role will involve:

β€’ Delivering overhead line design for transmission and distribution projects across the UK

β€’ Producing route designs, line profiles, and structural calculations

β€’ Preparing drawings, models, and design reports in line with client requirements

β€’ Coordinating with project managers, engineers, and contractors

β€’ Supporting feasibility studies, design reviews, and project delivery

β€’ Ensuring compliance with safety, environmental, and quality standards

β€’ Supporting continuous improvement and mentoring junior team members where appropriate
