My client is a manufacturer of specialist products for a variety of sectors, and they are looking to take on a Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis in the Bristol area.
Experience within the Nuclear/Defence/Aviation industry is desired, but not a necessity.
The Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- Degree / HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- Experience with Sheet Metal/Metalwork/Fabrication is necessary for this role
- Be proficient using 3D CAD software such as CATIA, Inventor, SolidWorks, etc.
- Good theoretical mechanical engineering knowledge of core principles and tight tolerances
- Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team
- Have the ability to carry out mechanical calculations
- Proficient using MS Office
The Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
- Working within the current engineering team with other Design Engineers
- Producing 3D designs using CATIA and 2D designs with AutoCAD
- Being involved in final assembly of products
- Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
- Updating 3D models and drawings
- Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
