My client designs, builds and operates wind farm and Solar PV projects throughout the United Kingdom. They are looking for a Project Engineer to join their team in the Cornwall area on a full-time contract basis.

The Project Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Highly proficient in the use of AutoCAD and Vehicle Tracking software
  • Basic knowledge of onshore wind development and construction processes
  • Methodical, accurate and detail focused approach to work
  • Awareness and understanding of CDM regulations
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to prioritise and manage a demanding workload
  • Able to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team
  • Flexible to travel to sites throughout the UK
  • Strong technical and problem-solving abilities
  • Experience with project cost estimation and tracking would be advantageous
  • Civil3D and Infraworks proficiency would be beneficial
  • Knowledge of transport and construction methods relating to onshore wind projects would be advantageous
  • Familiarity with wind farm BoP (Balance of Plant) and TSA (Turbine Supply Agreement) contracts would be beneficial
  • Surveying and setting out experience would be advantageous

The Project Engineer role will involve:

  • Producing optimised wind farm site layout drawings, access modifications, swept path analysis, and legal and planning drawings
  • Estimating and tracking project costs with a focus on reducing costs through design improvements
  • Supporting projects through development, construction and operational phases
  • Assisting with projects under development and construction while maintaining high Health, Safety and Quality standards
  • Identifying and reducing project risks through design to ensure practical and financial feasibility
  • Providing technical input to early-stage and pre-planning projects
  • Procuring and coordinating third-party technical services
  • Supporting the wider improvement and development of design processes and procedures
  • Collaborating with internal teams to ensure the smooth delivery of projects
  • Maintaining technical documentation and project records
