Premier Forest is one of the UK’s leading timber importers, processors, and distributors. With over 20 sites nationwide and a workforce of 600+ employees, we have experienced significant growth in recent years through acquisitions and continued business expansion. We are looking for a reliable and hardworking Sawmill / Yard Operative to join our team at our West Wales branch in Haverfordwest. This is a great opportunity to become part of a busy operation, supporting yard activities, production, and customer order fulfilment.
Working closely with the Yard Foreperson and wider team, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth running of day-to-day operations while maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency.
What you will be doing…
- Pick and prepare customer orders accurately and efficiently
- Load and unload vehicles safely
- Carry out manual handling tasks, including lifting and stacking timber
- Operate sawmill machinery and production lines (where trained)
- Check the quality of machined timber
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe yard (yard housekeeping)
- Use a forklift for stock movement and loading (if licensed)
- Ensure goods in and goods out processes are completed accurately
- Maintain high standards of Health & Safety at all times
- Follow company procedures and contribute to continuous improvement
What we are looking for…
- Ability to carry out manual handling tasks and meet the physical demands of the role
- Reliable with a strong work ethic
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, outdoor environment
- Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
- Forklift licence preferred
- Previous experience in a yard, sawmill, or similar environment is advantageous but not essential
