Overview
In this role you will support the Stoke-on-Trent Mr Kipling bakery by maintaining and improving automated plant equipment to sustain high-quality production. You’ll work within a tight-knit engineering team on shift, collaborating with operations to maximise line efficiency and safety. You’ll lead or assist projects to modernise maintenance and drive Right First Time outcomes. This is a hands-on, growth-minded opportunity in a respected multi-site food manufacturer with strong employee support and progression paths.

Responsibilities
- Advise and assist design, installation and commissioning of projects and small initiatives
- Ensure plant and equipment systems perform to manufacture product efficiently to high quality standards
- Assist with training and support of non-electrically biased engineers and electrical engineers wishing to improve knowledge of automated machinery
- Support engineering and manufacturing functions ensuring maximum utilisation of engineering equipment to achieve KPIs and optimal line efficiency within safety, quality & environmental policies
- Contribute to and help implement continuous improvement to enhance quality, safety, efficiency and waste reduction
- Help transform the engineering maintenance strategy from a breakdown philosophy to a Right First Time, proactive philosophy
Key requirements
- Recognised Engineering Apprenticeship, ONC/HNC or equivalent qualification in engineering
- Previous experience in automated manufacturing environments
- Working understanding of Mechanical, Electrical and Electronic manuals & drawings
- Collaborative with operations
- Willingness to train others
- Proactive problem-solving
- Automation experience with modern machinery
- Knowledge of mechanical, electrical and electronic systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals & drawings
