The Opportunity
We're looking for a confident, credible Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) leader to take ownership of safety, wellbeing and environmental performance at a complex manufacturing site. This is a highly visible role, sitting on the Site Leadership Team, with real autonomy to shape strategy, drive cultural change and make a lasting impact.
What you'll be responsible for:
- Setting and delivering the site HSE strategy in line with Group, sector and regulatory requirements
- Leading cultural and behavioural change to embed a proactive, positive safety culture
- Ensuring full compliance with UK health, safety and environmental legislation and site permits
- Maintaining and continuously improving Safety & Environmental Management Systems
- Acting as site Duty Holder for Group-identified specialisms and leading site security arrangements
- Providing expert HSE advice and support to leaders, employees and contractors
- Leading incident investigations, root cause analysis and preventative action planning
- Monitoring, analysing and reporting HSE performance, trends and KPIs to site leadership
- Leading engagement initiatives, including safety and environmental campaigns
- Managing preparation for, and participation in, external audits and regulatory inspections
- Acting as the main point of contact for regulatory bodies, including the Environment Agency
- Supporting safe design, operational change and capital projects with strong HSE input
- Leading, developing and coaching the site SHE team
About you
You're a pragmatic, visible HSE leader who can influence at all levels and balance operational delivery with regulatory and compliance demands. You bring strategic thinking, strong leadership capability and genuine passion for continuous improvement.
- Proven experience in a senior HSE role within a regulated environment
- Strong knowledge of UK health, safety and environmental legislation
- Experience leading or supporting audits (ISO 45001 & ISO 14001 preferred)
- Ability to influence behaviour and build strong relationships across a site
- Excellent communication, organisational and leadership skills
