A new role has become available for an Assistant Financial Accountant to cover a period of maternity leave. The role sits within Group finance, reporting to the Group Reporting Manager. As Assistant Financial Accountant, you will support external and internal board reporting for the Group, ensuring strong financial control and compliance with accounting standards. You will provide support on the Group consolidated accounts and the company statutory accounts as well as the monthly management accounts and take an active role in the ongoing improvement project relating to the finance systems used by the Group Finance team.
What you will be doing:
- Actively involved in the ongoing maintenance of the current consolidation system
- Support with the preparation of half year and full year financial statements under IFRS
- Support with the preparation of subsidiaries statutory accounts under FRS 101
- Support with the preparation and completion of the consolidated monthly management accounts including journal postings
- Support with the Group's external and internal audits, respond to audit queries and liaise with auditors as required
- Support the ongoing Group finance projects, i.e. change projects and system improvements
- Support the Group's planning cycles for central P&L from Divisional Contribution to Profit After Tax, Balance sheet and Cashflow statements
- Working closely with the Manchester based shared service team during reporting cycles
- Completion of Office of National Statistics Returns
- Assist with balance sheet reconciliations on a monthly/quarterly basis
What we need from you:
- Part qualified or sufficient years of accounting experience
- Experienced in preparation and/or audit of accounts
- Understanding of financial accounting
- Experience of working in a group finance function desirable
- Knowledge of SAP BI and Cognos Controller would be useful
