We are currently seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join an established engineering company based in Nottingham. This role would suit someone with experience designing bespoke machinery or special purpose machinery (SPM), with a strong understanding of manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Design bespoke machinery and special purpose equipment from concept through to manufacture.
Produce 3D models, detailed 2D drawings, and BOMs using SolidWorks.
Design components and assemblies incorporating fabrication, sheet metal, and CNC machined parts.
Work closely with manufacturing, assembly, and project teams to ensure designs are practical and cost-effective.
Support prototype builds, testing, commissioning, and design improvements.
Manage engineering documentation and design changes.
Skills & Experience Required:
Strong proficiency in SolidWorks (essential).
Experience designing bespoke machinery or SPM equipment.
Good understanding of fabrication, sheet metal design, and CNC machining processes.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
