Premier Engineering is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician to join our client’s team in West Berkshire. This role focuses on carrying out electrical assembly, testing, and maintenance of equipment and systems, ensuring products are built to the highest quality and safety standards. The position will involve close collaboration with engineering, production, and quality teams to support ongoing projects and new product introductions.
The Electrical Technician will ideally have the following attributes:
- Qualified with 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
- At least 3 years’ experience in a similar role, working as an Electrical Technician, Electrical Fitter, or similar role within an engineering or manufacturing environment
- Knowledge of electrical assembly, wiring, and fault-finding practices
- Familiarity with electrical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams
- Experience working with control panels, harnesses, or industrial electrical systems
- Understanding of relevant electrical safety standards
- Strong problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to use electrical test equipment (multimeters, PAT testers, insulation resistance testers, etc.)
- Good communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
- NVQ Level 3, HNC, or equivalent in Electrical Engineering (desirable)
The Electrical Technician role will involve:
- Building, wiring, and assembling electrical systems, panels, and components
- Interpreting and working from electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics
- Carrying out functional and safety testing of electrical systems and components
- Diagnosing and repairing electrical faults in products and equipment
- Supporting engineers during prototype builds and product development phases
- Ensuring all work complies with internal quality procedures and relevant standards
- Assisting in continuous improvement activities to enhance product reliability and efficiency
- Maintaining accurate documentation of test results, repairs, and modifications
- Working collaboratively with mechanical fitters, design engineers, and quality teams to meet project deadlines
