My client is a specialist supplier of bespoke metalwork. They are looking for an experienced Design Technician to join their expanding team based in the Reading area on a permanent basis.
Attributes
- At least 2 years' experience in a Mechanical Engineering or hands-on Design Engineering role
- Knowledge of sheet metal, welding, fabrication, castings etc.
- Basic proficiency with 2D and 3D CAD software - Revit, AutoCAD
- Ability to understand Architectural and Structural drawings
- Knowledge of R&D - testing, prototyping, development etc.
- Proficient using MS Office
- Good mathematical and general engineering knowledge
- The ability to understand system requirements
- Be self-motivated with excellent attention to detail
- Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
Responsibilities
- Designing and manufacturing prototypes and test equipment
- Testing, performing experiments, prototyping, and verifying designs
- Using Revit & AutoCAD to provide detailed drawings
- Working alongside Structural and Architectural Engineers
- Being involved in final assembly of products
- Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports/plans
- Monitoring requirements and timescales
- Working in a small multidisciplinary team on varied projects
