My client is a specialist metal product designer and manufacturer. They are looking for a Draughtsman to join their team in Luton on a permanent basis.

The Draughtsman will ideally have the following attributes:

  • HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Design, Engineering or similar
  • 2-5 years' or more of experience in a similar Design / Draughtsman position
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes including sheet metal, fabrication and welded parts
  • Be proficient using 2D & 3D CAD software such as SolidWorks & Tekla
  • Previous experience in a similar role in a manufacturing environment
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Proficient using MS Office
  • Excellent organisational skills and time management skills
  • Have the ability to work well alone as well as part of a small multi-disciplinary team

The Draughtsman role will involve:

  • Using CAD for concept design and producing technical drawings & sketches
  • Producing fabrication drawings to bespoke requirements
  • Communicating directly with clients to determine requirements
  • Liaising with manufacturing providers
  • Being involved in final assembly of products
  • Creating the required documentation for design as well as project reports / plans
  • Updating 3D models and drawings
  • Checking drawings for sign off
  • Working in a small multi-disciplinary team on varied projects
