My client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the concept and detailed design of mechanical and electromechanical products.
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- Degree qualified Engineer with a minimum of 5 years industry experience
- Proven ability in one of the leading 3D CAD modelling packages, ideally Creo
- Experience of designing with both metals and plastic materials
- Good experience in working with electromechanical products
- Knowledge/experience in concept design work
- Knowledge of rotating components such as bearings, seals, gears, and pulleys would be advantageous
- Excellent knowledge of GD&Ts
- Experience in DFMEA and DFM
- Ability to work from first principles in concept design work, utilising strong problem-solving skills
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:
- Assisting in the design of a range of engine ancillaries including oil, water, and fuel pumps
- Concept and detailed design of e-Pumps for data centre applications
- Working from first principles to support concept design activities and problem solving
- Working alongside the engineering team to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture
- Liaising with the design team and Chief Engineer to resolve design issues
- Creating CAD models and engineering drawing layouts
- Producing engineering reports
- Liaising with customers, internal departments, and external suppliers
- Supporting the successful delivery of design projects through collaboration with key stakeholders
