My client is looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their engineering team on a permanent basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for the concept and detailed design of mechanical and electromechanical products.

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:

  • Degree qualified Engineer with a minimum of 5 years industry experience
  • Proven ability in one of the leading 3D CAD modelling packages, ideally Creo
  • Experience of designing with both metals and plastic materials
  • Good experience in working with electromechanical products
  • Knowledge/experience in concept design work
  • Knowledge of rotating components such as bearings, seals, gears, and pulleys would be advantageous
  • Excellent knowledge of GD&Ts
  • Experience in DFMEA and DFM
  • Ability to work from first principles in concept design work, utilising strong problem-solving skills

The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer role will involve:

  • Assisting in the design of a range of engine ancillaries including oil, water, and fuel pumps
  • Concept and detailed design of e-Pumps for data centre applications
  • Working from first principles to support concept design activities and problem solving
  • Working alongside the engineering team to ensure designs are optimised for manufacture
  • Liaising with the design team and Chief Engineer to resolve design issues
  • Creating CAD models and engineering drawing layouts
  • Producing engineering reports
  • Liaising with customers, internal departments, and external suppliers
  • Supporting the successful delivery of design projects through collaboration with key stakeholders
