We’re recruiting a Playworker to join our friendly Wraparound Care team at St Mary’s Primary School. Whether you’re an experienced childcare professional or have experience working with children in another setting, we’d love to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities

You’ll help create a fun, safe and welcoming environment for children before and after the school day. From games and crafts to outdoor play and creative activities, you’ll play an important part in making every session enjoyable.

Working alongside the Site Lead, you’ll help deliver high‑quality wraparound care while building positive relationships with children, parents and school staff.

What you’ll be doing

  • Helping plan and deliver engaging play, from arts and crafts to active games
  • Collecting children from class and settling them into the session
  • Setting up and packing away play spaces, and serving safe, healthy refreshments
  • Building genuine relationships with children, parents and school staff
  • Keeping everyone safe by following our safeguarding and health and safety procedures

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential

  • Experience working with children (voluntary or paid).
  • Understanding of how to create safe, fun and inclusive play for all children, no matter their age or ability.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and take direction from the site Lead.
  • Reliable transport to attend sessions on time, including morning and afternoon shifts.
  • The ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and well‑being of children and young people.
  • Paediatric First Aid, Level 3 Designated Safeguarding Lead training and an enhanced DBS, or willingness to complete these when you join.
