About the role:
We are seeking a caring, patient and dedicated Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Wigan from September. This full-time role involves providing 1:1 support for a pupil and is expected to continue on a long-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys building positive relationships and making a genuine difference to a child's educational journey.
Key responsibilities:
- Provide dedicated 1:1 support for a KS2 pupil
- Work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored learning support
- Adapt activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil
- Encourage confidence, independence and engagement in learning
- Promote positive behaviour using the school's behaviour policy
- Build a safe, nurturing and inclusive learning environment
- Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff and parents where appropriate
- Prepare learning resources and support classroom activities as required
Requirements:
- Level 2 or Level 3 qualification (or equivalent)
- Recent experience supporting children in a primary school setting
- Experience working with pupils with additional needs is desirable
- Patient, reliable and proactive approach
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
