We're working with a number of welcoming Wigan primary schools who are looking for exceptional SEND Teaching Assistants to support pupils with additional needs. This is not a general TA role.
I am specifically looking for individuals who:
- Have hands-on experience supporting children with SEND (ASD, SEMH, speech & language, or complex needs)
- Understand behaviour, emotional regulation, and building trust
- Can stay calm, patient and consistent even on the toughest days
- Are proactive and use their own initiative (not waiting to be told what to do)
You might have worked as a:
- SEND TA
- Support worker / care worker
- Nursery practitioner with additional needs experience
- Youth worker or in SEMH settings
What the role involves:
- 1:1 or small group support
- Helping children access learning in and out of the classroom
- Supporting with routines, transitions, and emotional regulation
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
The kind of people who do well in these roles:
- You've supported a child through a meltdown not just observed one.
- You understand that behaviour is communication.
- You build relationships first, learning comes second.
Important: Due to the nature of these roles, we are only able to progress candidates who can clearly demonstrate relevant SEND experience.
To apply, please send your CV and include a short note outlining your SEND experience and the type of needs you've supported:
- The types of SEND needs you've supported
- A brief example of how you've helped a child manage behaviour or engage in learning
Applications without this may not be considered.
What you'll get:
- Support in finding the right school for you
- Ongoing work in local Bolton schools
- Honest guidance; we won't send you somewhere that isn't a good fit
