£92.56 - £110 per day, depending on experience and qualifications

Are you a caring and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant who wants to make a genuine difference to children with additional needs? Premier Education is recruiting SEN Teaching Assistants to work across primary schools within a trust in Tameside. A range of opportunities will be available from September 2026, with placements matched to your experience, availability and preferred location wherever possible.

You could work in primary schools across Ashton-under-Lyne, Hyde, Stalybridge, Denton, Droylsden, Dukinfield and the surrounding Tameside area. Some locations are also accessible for applicants travelling from Glossop, Oldham, Stockport, East Manchester and the High Peaks.

Your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting pupils with special educational needs and disabilities
  • Providing one-to-one, small-group and classroom-based support
  • Helping pupils understand instructions and engage with learning
  • Adapting activities to make the curriculum more accessible
  • Delivering targeted literacy, numeracy and communication interventions
  • Supporting children to manage their emotions and regulate their behaviour
  • Encouraging confidence, independence and positive social interaction
  • Following individual support plans and Education, Health and Care Plans
  • Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other support staff
  • Recording observations and providing feedback on pupils' progress
  • Creating a calm, consistent and inclusive learning environment

Across the trust's primary schools, you could support children with needs such as:

  • Autism
  • ADHD
  • Speech, language and communication needs
  • Social, emotional and mental health needs
  • Moderate learning difficulties
  • Sensory or physical needs
  • Behaviour that may challenge
  • A combination of additional learning and pastoral needs

Requirements:

  • Recent UK experience working with children in a school, nursery, care, youth work, coaching or similar setting
  • Experience supporting children with additional needs
  • A calm, patient and nurturing approach
  • The resilience to respond positively when situations become challenging
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to follow individual support plans and staff guidance
  • A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, although relevant experience will also be considered
  • The Right to Work in the UK - we are unable to offer visa sponsorship
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one
