We are looking for a caring, patient and proactive Teaching Assistant with Speech and Language Therapy (SALT) training to support a child who is joining Reception at a welcoming Church of England primary school. This is a lovely opportunity for someone who enjoys working within Early Years and providing individualised support, helping a child to settle into school, develop their communication and access learning in a way that works for them.

The role

  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENDCO, you will provide consistent, nurturing support.
  • Delivering daily Speech and Language (SALT) interventions.
  • Supporting the planning and delivery of a bespoke curriculum, tailored to the child's individual needs.
  • Adapting activities and learning to make the Reception curriculum accessible and engaging.
  • Helping to develop and adapt the classroom sensory space around the child's needs.
  • Building a positive, trusting relationship with the child and helping them feel safe and confident within school.
  • Liaising with parents, the class teacher and SENDCO to ensure a consistent approach.
  • Supporting the inclusive, caring environment of the school and being comfortable supporting its Christian ethos.

Who we're looking for

  • Previous SALT training is essential for this role, as you will be responsible for delivering daily speech and language interventions with the child.
  • Experience within EYFS, SEND or 1:1 support would be highly beneficial.
  • You will need to be patient, adaptable and confident in tailoring your approach around an individual child's communication, sensory and learning needs.

This is a part-time role, initially working five mornings per week. The school would also be willing to consider four mornings and one afternoon for the right person. The working pattern will be reviewed after the first four weeks.

If you're SALT trained and looking for a rewarding part-time role where you can make a genuine difference to a child's start at school, we'd love to hear from you.
