Teacher of English - the role Depending on the placement, your responsibilities may include: Teaching English Language and Literature across KS3 - KS5 Planning and delivering engaging lessons Following an established curriculum and schemes of work Assessing pupils' work and monitoring progress Preparing students for GCSE examinations Creating a positive and purposeful classroom environment Managing behaviour confidently and consistently Working closely with departmental colleagues and school leaders Contributing to the wider work of the English department Teacher of English - requirements UK Qualified Teacher Status A relevant degree or strong subject knowledge Recent experience teaching English in a UK secondary school, including teaching placements Knowledge of the Key Stage 3 and GCSE English curriculum Strong classroom and behaviour management skills A reliable, adaptable and professional approach The ability to build positive relationships with pupils and colleagues The legal right to work in the UK - we are unable to offer visa sponsorship An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to obtain one If you are an English Teacher seeking a long-term cover role in Greater Manchester, Michaela would love to hear from you.
