Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people with special educational needs and social, emotional or mental health challenges?

Role: A supportive and inclusive mainstream primary school near Manchester city centre is seeking caring, proactive and resilient Behaviour Mentors to work in their provision on a supply basis. This role is key in helping students with SEND and SEMH needs overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted 1:1 and small group support for students with SEND/SEMH
  • De-escalate challenging situations using positive behaviour strategies
  • Work closely with the SENDCo, pastoral team and external professionals
  • Support EHCP targets and personalised learning plans
  • Foster emotional regulation, resilience and positive self-esteem
  • Monitor progress and contribute to review meetings and reports

Requirements

  • Experience supporting young people with SEND or SEMH needs (school, youth work, care)
  • A calm, empathetic and consistent approach
  • Ability to build strong, trusting relationships with vulnerable students
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding
  • Relevant training (Team Teach, MAPA, etc.) is desirable but not essential
  • A 2:1 or above degree in Psychology, Education or a related field is advantageous
