Nursery Assistant - September 2026
Location: Macclesfield and surrounding areas
Contract type: Full-time and part-time temporary work from September 2026
Pay rate: £14.24 per hour. Hours of work are 8.30am to 5.30pm
About the role
We are seeking reliable, caring and enthusiastic Nursery Assistants to work across nurseries and early years settings in Macclesfield and the surrounding areas from September 2026.
A variety of flexible placements may be available, including daily supply, short-term assignments and long-term opportunities.
Key responsibilities
- Support children's learning and development through engaging, age-appropriate activities
- Help provide a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment
- Assist with daily nursery routines, including mealtimes and personal care
- Observe children's progress and share relevant information with senior staff
- Support positive behaviour and children's emotional wellbeing
- Prepare activities, learning materials and play areas
- Build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues
- Follow all safeguarding, health and safety, and nursery policies
Requirements
- Recent experience working in a nursery or early years setting
- A relevant childcare or early years qualification is desirable
- A good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)
- A caring, patient and proactive approach
- The ability to engage and motivate young children
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- A current enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
The successful candidate will be responsible for safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, in accordance with Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) guidance. An enhanced DBS check will be required as part of our commitment to providing a safe and supportive environment for every child.
