About the role
We are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic KS2 Teaching Assistant to support a Year 6 class at a primary school in Hyde. The successful applicant must have previous experience delivering Read Write Inc. interventions and be confident supporting pupils with their reading, writing and phonics development.
Key responsibilities
- Support teaching and learning within a Year 6 classroom
- Deliver Read Write Inc. sessions to individuals and small groups
- Provide targeted literacy and numeracy support
- Help pupils prepare for the transition to secondary school
- Support positive behaviour in line with school policies
- Assist the teacher with classroom activities and resources
- Help maintain a safe, positive and inclusive learning environment
- Monitor pupils' progress and provide feedback to the class teacher
Requirements
- Recent experience working as a Teaching Assistant within KS2
- Practical experience delivering Read Write Inc. - essential
- Confidence supporting Year 6 pupils
- A good understanding of the KS2 National Curriculum
- Strong communication and classroom-management skills
- A caring, reliable and proactive approach
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
