About the role
We are looking for a compassionate and reliable Peripatetic Speech and Language Therapy Assistant (SLTA) to work across educational and community settings in the Chesterfield area. This is a travelling role, so you will not be based at one school or clinic. You will visit a range of sites to support children and young people with their speech, language, communication and swallowing needs. Working under the direction of a qualified Speech and Language Therapist, you will help deliver agreed intervention programmes and monitor progress.
Key responsibilities
- Travel between schools and community settings
- Deliver speech, language and communication interventions
- Support agreed swallowing intervention programmes
- Work with individuals and small groups
- Prepare appropriate resources and activities
- Record progress and provide feedback to the supervising therapist
- Build positive relationships with children, families and professionals
- Follow safeguarding, confidentiality, and health and safety procedures
Requirements
- Relevant experience supporting children or young people
- Experience with speech, language and communication needs is desirable
- Confidence delivering structured intervention programmes
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- A caring, patient and flexible approach
- Ability to travel between different sites throughout the Chesterfield area
- An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one
