School Business Assistant - Temp-to-Perm Opportunity

Hours: 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:15am-3:15pm, term time only
Pay: Competitive rate, dependent on experience
Premier Education is working with a welcoming small primary school in the Taddington area seeking an experienced and highly organised School Business Assistant to join their team after the October half-term.
This is a temp-to-perm opportunity, providing the successful candidate with the chance to initially work through Premier Education before potentially moving into a permanent position with the school.
The school is particularly interested in candidates who have previous experience working within a UK school office or administration environment and understand the day-to-day demands of supporting a busy primary school.
As part of the position, there will also be approximately six Clerk to Governors meetings per year, generally taking place between 5:00pm and 6:30pm.
The Role:
- Managing day-to-day school administration and maintaining accurate records
- Handling correspondence and producing letters and communications for parents
- Managing school communication systems, including email and text correspondence
- Supporting the management of the school website
- Managing the school's ParentPay system
- Maintaining and updating the Single Central Record
- Supporting financial administration, budgetary planning and financial control
- Ensuring administrative procedures meet safeguarding, health and safety, and statutory requirements
- Administering medicines to pupils when required
- Providing administrative support to the Headteacher and wider school team
- Acting as Clerk to Governors for approximately six evening meetings per year
- Supporting children and families as part of the wider school community
Candidate Requirements:
- Previous UK school administration experience is highly desirable
- Strong administrative and organisational experience
- Experience with financial administration, budgeting or financial controls would be advantageous
- Confident using IT systems, including Microsoft Office, Google Docs, Google Sheets and Google Forms
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- An understanding of school safeguarding procedures and the importance of maintaining an accurate Single Central Record would be advantageous
- A warm, professional and approachable manner
- Flexible and willing to support different areas of school life when required
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
