Monday to Friday - 25 hours per week (split shift rota to cover daily Breakfast and Afterschool clubs) at St John's Primary School, Canterbury, CT1 1BD.

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated childcare professional to join our team as the setting Lead for Breakfast and Afterschool clubs.

The Role

You will be responsible for leading and delivering engaging, high-quality activities and care before and after school, ensuring a safe and stimulating environment for children. A key aspect of the role is ensuring safeguarding policies are implemented and upheld to maintain a secure environment for all children in the setting. You will support and supervise playworkers, staff, and volunteers, ensuring effective communication with schools and parents.

Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for the overall management of the setting including safeguarding of all children in your care.
  • Lead the delivery of engaging, high-quality activities and care to ensure a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment.
  • Manage effective communication with stakeholders, including parents, schools, and staff.
  • Review all safeguarding concerns and take the appropriate action including escalating as appropriate.
  • Administer first aid when necessary and ensure prompt reporting and logging of all first aid incidents on site.
  • Ensure the club’s policies and EYFS guidelines are being followed to maintain high standards of care.
  • Play a lead role in OFSTED inspections.

Essential Skills/Experience:

  • Experience working with children aged 4 to 11 in a play-based or educational setting.
  • Experience in managing or supervising staff in a childcare or educational setting.
  • Understanding of children's varied needs and family dynamics.
  • Knowledge of quality play care principles and equal opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all members of the organisation, parents, schools, and childcare and play-related agencies.

Desirable:

  • Level 2 (or above) qualification in Childcare.
  • IT skills for club administration.
  • Training in safeguarding and child protection.
  • Current 12-hour Paediatric First Aid Certificate.
  • Full UK Drivers License.
